Running the day
How do I put a booking on a vehicle with a driver?
Drag the group from the unassigned lane onto a run, or open it and press "Put this on a run" and pick from the list; either way FleetDesk, dispatch software for tour operators, checks the seats before it accepts, and the run carries the vehicle and the driver so you set both in one action.
Dragging is the shortcut. The dialog is the real path, because dragging is no use on a phone, on a keyboard, or on a trackpad in a moving vehicle.
The dialog
Every run on that day is listed, including the ones that cannot take this group, each with the reason: "No seats left", "Only 3 seats left", "Private hire, taken". A dispatcher needs to know the 14:45 is a private hire, not wonder where it went. You can search the list by vehicle, driver or tour, and create a new run from inside it.
Where else this can be set
A booking that is not yet on a run can have its vehicle and driver picked directly on the booking form. Once it is on a run the board owns those fields and the form says so, so the seat count can never be surprised by a second place to change it.
Taking a group off
Take it off the run and it goes back to the unassigned lane. Nothing is deleted and the booking is untouched.
The seat check is real
The database enforces capacity, not just the screen. If a write would overfill a vehicle it is refused, and the refusal is what you read.
